Floating in Labuan Bajo

Blog, Travel

Hello there!

Work was getting a little bit too intense for me in the month of August 2017, and I had to get a little breather for myself before things went out of control, That’s why I took a 4 days off from work and went to one of the most happening destination in Indonesia. Yes! It’s Labuan Bajo!

Day 1

We took Garuda Indonesia direct flight to Komodo International Airport (2.35 hours of flight). After we reached Labuan Bajo, We headed directly to Paradise Bar and Restaurant to grab something to eat.

Manta Point

This is one of the most exciting activity that I look forward to experience. The captain suddenly scream “Ayo cepet turun! Mantanya di bawah!”. It took around 10ish minutes until I dare to look down to see the Mantas. And it was….. AMAZING!

To saw big mantas swimming around you was a whole new experience for me personally. I’m super satisfied with what I saw. But unfortunately since we didn’t bring any under water camera, so we sont be able to took any Manta’s pic.

Taka Makassar

At first, I’m quite confused with this place. It’s a small vacant island consisting only of a few trees and sand (the sand is half white-half pink). The water was super clear! And you guess it right. We took a lot of photos.

After tired of taking photos (well, it’s a lie. We don’t get tired of taking photos. Never did), we headed to Pink Beach.

Then we headed to Komodo National Park to see some wild Komodos.

Komodo National Park

You have to be accompanied by 2 rangers when you walk around the island, 1 in front and another 1 in the back, since komodo is a carnivore predator that can attack people unexpectedly.

There are a bunch of wild animals here such as deers, and of course the Komodos!

Kalong Island

Our last destination for the night was Pulau Kalong, where we were supposed to see a group of bats flying above our ship during sunset. Unfortunately, the bats didn’t come out that night, probably because there were too many ships anchored there.

But, eventhought we didnt see any bats, Kalong Island before sunset. It’s just BEAUTIFUL! So peaceful and heartwarming. The landscape, the water, the sky.. It’s just perfect!

Day 4

Padar Island

“Bohong ke Labuan Bajo kalo belum ke Padar”. Yes, this is the compulsory spot to visit if you go to Labuan Bajo. Not without reasons, the view is amazing from the top.

I think it was the highest track we climbed so far, we start at 5AM. The trek up is quite steep with no real path, and rocky as in lots of sharp and loose rocks with sands, I advise not to wear flip flops when you go up. (Really. Don’t use flip flops). We trekked for almost 45 minutes.

And Padar Island was the last destination in Labuan Bajo. We headed to Komodo National Airport after that and went back to Jakarta at 4pm.
